Factory Overclocked Video cards and Overclocking CPU?

I severly apologize if there is a thread for this already.

Is there and issue with factory overclocked video cards being installed and then overclocking your PC. Does it double the effect and cause crashes? or is there a certain procedure to going about this proccess?
And the video card is:
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Superclocked (02G-P4-2653-KR) 2GB GDDR5
- 1202 MHz Core Clock, 5000MHz Memory
- PCI Express 3.0 x16, DVI-I, DVI-D, Mini-HDMI

The rest of the PC is here:

i dont quite understand but your graphics card should run as specified.. as to OC'ing your PC you really need a K CPU such as the 3770k instead in of 3770 in your list... procedure i would do is to test the card that is is stable at the specified factory OC, then if you go with a K CPU overclock it and test if it is stable. your RAM will be fine at stock

Thanks for the response Stubass!

So if i went wiht he 3770K would to procedure be the same test it and see. Or what kind of procedure do i foloow to find out if my factory OC'd video card is gong to have a negative effect on the rig. Is it best to go with a stock Video card and then overclock? I guess what im trying to say is. With and overclocked video card inmstalled is ther anything i have to do before i overclock my cpu and ram? Or is it best to go with a stock video card and go form there?

if you went with the i3770k and OC it, yeah it is similar to overclocking your 920 in that yes its trail and error to find the right mix of clock and voltages with nice temps BUT bear in mind the actual procedure is different and alot easier to overclock an 1155 cpu than your 920 as there is no BCLK overclocking on a sandy bridge or ivy bridge.. in the Intel CPU section there are heaps of guides to OCing your CPU which you should read...

i am not sure excatly how to check if there will be any negative impact with that factory OC card but i doubt it or doubt there would be any bottlenecking.. mind you if you went with a stock card you would be playing lottery as to if your core will reach 1200MHz.. tough one sorry thinking.gif

There should be no interaction between the video card overclocking and the CPU overclocking. It won't make any difference to your video card if your CPU is overclocked, and it won't matter to your CPU overclock that your video card is or isn't overclocked. So if that is your concern, no need to worry. The only way they could affect each other would be power - overclocking both will increase your power draw, and so could theoretically cause a problem if your power supply was underpowered.

Did you already buy the 850W power supply you listed? Because that is way, way more than you'd need. You could easily power the system you have listed with a 550W, and even a quality 450W would be fine.
