HTPC Build - HiFi - Page 2

i'm running 1080p video with full sound on a amd 4850e 2 gigs of ram and a 6450 2gb card all running on a 40gb ssd plays movies that i stream from my server just fine. No stuttering / screen issues and audio comes across perfectly. You dont need a high end build if all your doing is watching movies. I would say go quad core if you were planning on transcoding them but that dosent seem to be the case.

I would definitely second the a6. It is more than enough for 1080p and HD audio. Then run a nightly build of xbmc that supports HD audio and u will be in htpc nirvana. That is if u are ripping your blurays. Otherwise I guess you will be using arcsoft or powerdvd.

Anyways, what kind of speakers u got? Obviously the sweetest htpc is only gonna sound as good as what you're driving allows. tongue.gif
