Multi-tasking?

Hey, take a look at my specs.

OK. Now comes the question. I find that if i'm doing something like, installing a program, or burning a CD, my audio becomes really screwed up, like the processor is being way too overworked. Should this be happening?
Theres no way that CPU is being fully worked to the max, press ctrl+alt+delete and tell us what your cpu usage on each core is.

Shooting from 15-30% (this is just running a virus check) and it's still distorting the audio

Maybe it is a driver issue. Your CPU is definatly not being overworked.

Ok update :

re-installed drivers. nothing.

I also figured out that the audio when i watch dvds from either of my cd drives is the same way, garbled and inaudible. what could this be? i opened up my case, made sure all of the connections were fine, and they were.
