I think his card is reference so the brand wont matter.

Im truly interested what are the thoughts behind that. I was overall happier with my 7970's and 7950's compared my current 680 sli. That was even before 12.11 or 12.7 beta drivers. 3d vision is so much better than hd3d, that is why i kept my 680's.

I had x2 MSI 7950s that both came defective from MSI and both had to be returned. SoI bought this VisionTek 7970 and its been flawless since. has nothing to do with visiontek being the worst or anything the reason I am going back to Nvidia for me at least is Drivers & I want Physx & 3D.

As in BF3 multiplayer, perhaps? smile.gif

If yes, then the answer would be yes, as well. It is close enough with the 12.9b, so that 12.11b with its 15-20% performance increase will put the 7970 GHz Edition on top.

The apples-to-apples at the bottom of this page illustrates the situation with 12.9b:

Seeing as the 7970 is the same price as a 670 and beats it on stock clocks and goes WAY past it with a decent OC. The only reason I see to go nVidia is if you just want nVidia for the sake of having nVidia and you don't care of price to performance ratio.

OP did you waste your money? I'd say yes. Should you worry about it now? I would say no, but remember next time round to do some better research before buying a card. I have the 7950 and with my OC I consistently beat my friend who paid a few hundred extra for his 680. It isn't the end of the world as they are all good cards, but when it comes down to it there are smart, informed choices and then there are all the rest.

If anyone thinks I am an AMD fanboy look at my sig - I clearly go to what is the best price to performance with no allegiances.
Success.
