3930K Overclocking Help [SOLVED!]

Thread Starter
Just got my 3930K this weekend and trying my hand at some overclocking. See sig for rig specs.

So far Ive tried 4.8 at 1.5v and 4.6 at 1.48 and no luck. I feel like this is really high voltage for the CPU.

Ive been running prime95 for testing. It will run fine for a few hours then BSOD out of no where. Not a single read error just BSODs and turns off. My temps never go over 75C with my custom loop even at such high voltages. I also have a waterblock on my vrm ( Is there a way to monitor VRM temps btw?).

I also switched out my 24 pin psu cable for a moddiy custom sleeved cable. Not sure if this could be causing problems or not.

Basically just trying to figure out if I have a dud chip or if Im missing some sort of BIOS setting. Its C2 stepping btw. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks!

What motherboard are you using? Iirc Aida 64 can monitor vrm temps on some boards. How's your ambient air temp? Does your case have sufficient airflow?

Asus Rampage IV Formula. Ambient around 20C. Yeah the whole side panel is off right now ha. The vrm waterblock may very well be mounted bad is the reason I would like to watch VRM temps. Thanks for the response.

Definitely check the vrm temps. Are your C-states enabled? If so which ones are enabled/disabled.

Disable C6 and C7 and run it again, what's your Load Line Calibration set to?

Load line is set to high. Running offset voltage.

Heres a quick screen cap of everything running.

now are you just starting at 5ghz and 4.8 ghz? Why don't you go ahead and establish a baseline at 4.5ghz, then report your voltages etc..
