Load line is set to high. Running offset voltage.

In my Sabertooth x79, the sensor closest to the VRMs is a temperature sensor called VCORE.
I know that the saber has more sensors than most boards, but maybe you have a sensor with the same name on your Asus AI suite (the thernak radar software is sabertooth exclusive as far as I know).

Gosh the thermal radar is pretty nice. I downloaded AI Suite for the formula but no such luck with the temps. Showed me cpu and pch temps rolleyes.gif Youd think you would get a little more readouts than that on a $370 board.

Anyways. Im back at work and its running right now at 4.6 and 1.48v. I mean if it cant do that then something must be wrong right? or its a complete failure of a chip.

Thanks for the help eveyone. Appreciate it.

Yeah, it's hard to believe you wouldn't be able to stabilize it at 4.6 and 1.48v, since you haven't seen the BSOD code it's hard to even say that voltage is your issue, I'd try to eliminate other things before going that high in vcore to be honest, try using one stick of ram, if it fails, switch with another and so on. If you are running the ram over the rated spec (a 1600 kit oc'd 1866), pull it back to the rated specs, using XMP. Also c-states, turn off 3,6 and 7, if it's stable, turn 3 back on and leave the others disabled (not auto).
Lower vcore, increase LLC to very high. Offset OC usually takes a bit more tinkering with than fixed vcore, you should try that too...
If you are using offset, in the Digi+ Power Control, set CPU Current capability and VCCSA current capability to 120%.

These are all things I'd try before naming it a bad chip, in this order:
First, drop offset and use a fixed value (for 4.6 something in the 1.38 range and lower it after if it's stable). Disable c-states 3,6,7
Leave the ram at rated specs, or even lower it to 1600mhz. If it's still unstable, try one stick.
If you manage to get it stable and want to use offset, Check the VID and apply the offset to get the same voltage you had it stable with fixed vcore. Change the CPU and VSSCA current capabilities to 120%, only turn c3 state after the rig is stable with every c-state disabled. For 4.6, LLC on high should be enough, but if it's not, set it to very high and run it again
I'm not very versed in OCs, my 3930k was the first chip I actually overclocked, but I hope this helps you in any way.

This explains the CPU/VCCSA current settings I was talking about pretty well, the whole article is a decent read.

Oh wow thats a ton of good information! Thank you so much. I will certianly try all that out when I get home. Im using Dominator Platinum ram at 1866. It ran that fine in my old 3770k rig so it should be good in this I would hope.

I also switched back to my old 24 pin psu connector for this round. The new sleeved one from moddiy wouldnt not allow me to jumper it with a paper clip to fill my water cooling loop. I mean it powered my rig on fine but for some reason it would not let me jump it to start my psu to power the pump. This could be an issue?

I"m running a 4.5ghrz oc on 1.32 volts and its stable on a asus rampage 4 extreme with the 3930k and i have 32gb of ram at 2133
you should go back to default and raise the multiplier until it is unstable and then add more voltage step by step

Let us know the how it goes!
And about the PSU, I honestly wouldn't be able to say, I mean it sure seems like something is wrong if you can't jumper it like any other PSUs around, but I'm not sure. Someone more experienced with PSUs might be able to shed some light...
Good luck!

Thanks guys! I wish I wasnt at work. I shoulda started a remote connection biggrin.gif

I think this might be and issue:
Quote:
Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor -

The Adaptive Thermal Monitor feature is intended to help protect the processor in the event that an application exceeds the TDP recommendation for a sustained time period. As such during the course of overclocking this can affect the stability of the frequnecy defined. As such it is advised it be disabled when under overclocking and stress testing with high load and high power consumption sythetics or applications. Be advised this will not disable the CPUs internal TCC functionality.

I left it enabled. Could be why prime is running fine this just crashing out of no where. My TDP is up around 220watts during prime95.

Ill probably do what MASSKILLA suggested and start from scratch and see how it goes insted of jumping to a set point.

I think I got it figured out. It was a dang Logitech driver causing a run time error or something. Check out the scores below. Is this pretty decent? Doubt its prime stable but its fun to boot to those speeds. Still need to test for stability ha... redface.gif
