A couple questions for ya though since I noticed thats what you have. Should I stick with the 1404 BIOS if thats what comes on it instead of the whole conversion process? Also is VRM heat an issue? I dont have a water block for it and probably wont be able to instal one because I dont want to use the bitspower crystal link stuff and tubing would be way too tight.
p.s. Thanks for checking in on it!

1404 is good, the latest one just boots faster and they say it has better memory compatibility (I think).

I don't notice any difference other than boot times, won't affect OC. Just use 1404 cause it's easier =P

VRM heat is an issue at high overclocks, definitely. Up to 4.7, 4.8 it should be okay but any higher you would definitely need an active fan on it at the bare minimum.

I'm using the power friendly VRM options so it always switches to the coolest VRM's but I'm not sure how big of a difference that makes.

Try not to drool over the R4E, it's one sexy board! [edit] I literally drooled over mine when I first got it, DERP

Looks like we got this solved!

It was an issue with the newest RSTe Drivers.

Start here: LINK and read on.

Big shout out to Scorpion667 & SimpleTech for figuring this out and everyone else for all their replies and help!

I will be testing the RIVE tonight and see what this bad boy can crank out! I'll post my results!

Hmm, it could have been that. I have almost no experience with driver related BSOD's, I stumbled on it by accident as you saw hehe.

Just make sure you touch the VRM heatsink like 10 -15 minutes into the stress test if it gets too hot to touch you need a fan on that.

I need to stop being a wimp and get on some real WC =/

Make sure to post your OC results on Asus R4E club page =)

Finally got everything stabilized and good to go! Time to just sit back and enjoy this awesome motherboard. Such a good feeling when everything is running right. Running at 4.6Ghz

SSD seems to be working fine with the older RSTe drivers so Im just gonna leave it be.

4.6GHz @ 1.34V works for me with 68 °C (max) on air. Using ASUS P9X79 WS board, by the way.

What are you using to measure your temp at 68c? Is that the CPU temp or core temp? What program are you using to stress and get a max temp of 68c?
Thanks.
