At least with it getting cooler I don't have to worry about the room over heating now...I'll just leave the window open....
V7 is not necessary for GPUs but works out better for SMP than v6 would.
I use ubuntu 10.10 for my i7 2600K. Right now folding a really sweet unit for 96k PPD (really rare), usually PPD is around 50k averaged out. Difference between say 12.04 and 10.10 is nearly nothing from what I see.
Ubuntu GPU folding is a no go, only windows clients get assignments...
