I didn't think that could be the problem, it's been folding fine for the past few months at the same settings but it's just started to mess up now.

I'm not getting any BSOD's or anything and I've tested the OC to be stable, so I don't know what it could be. frown.gif

Stick 1.40v on that OC. The 70xx units are hard on the CPU and cause you to fail. I had to up the volts on the 3930k and 3820. 3930k is at 4.5GHz @ 1.35v and the 3820 is at 4.75GHz @ 1.42v. I know you are P95 stable but some of these units are worse than P95 on a system. Also maybe if you have a mem OC set it back to the XMP config.

I would offer you my 3820 BIOS but I am using an Asus P9X79 Pro. The 3930k is on the ROG board but that wouldnt help you.

Another thing to try would be to switch to v6 and see if it fails or crashes.

I don't recall it failing any in V6, but I only noticed that it had failed one in HFM, the client doesn't mention if I've failed any.

Also can I assume if I up the voltage to 1.4v then it will be stable? I really don't want to have to do 12 hours of P95 again.

You dont need to do prime again. Hell I upped the OC on the 3820 to 4.75, upped the volts to 1.42 just the other day. Never tested the OC, just started folding and hoped it would not crash. It did and I remembered that I OCed the RAM and did not fix the timings or volts so I set the RAM back to stock and have been folding ever since.

OK looks like i have time before heading to work.

This walk through assumes you have FAH Windows v7 client and basic computer skills. biggrin.gif

For this to work right you have to complete the unit you are folding and not download another unit. To do this turn of next-unit-percentage if you have this configured. Click the finish button in the client and wait for the unit for finish and go to a ready state. Quit the client.

If you did the default install the data folder is located in Program Data which is a hidden folder. It will be in cores\www.stanford.edu\~pande\win32\amd64\nvidia\fermi\core_15.fah

And if you have the beta flag flying (which you should) there will be a folder with the core_15.fah folder called beta.

If you put you data folder somewhere else go to where you told the install to put it or search for core_15.exe

The core_15.exe file is located in those folders. Swap it with the v2.22 core.

Make sure to set the client-type=beta in the config so you will avoid the dreaded 762x units. Add back the next-unit-percentage flag if you had it also.

Start your client and fold away with better PPD! You will get 680x, 804x, 805x and 8018 units this way. Also you will still be able to get the beta 8057 units and fold them with the v2.22 core.

My vcore was on 1.38 but it showed as 1.4 - 1.41 in CPU-Z, I changed it to 1.39 now it shows as 1.41 - 1.42, is this a good thing?
