[CT] Apple Bans Blu-ray From Macs. - Page 24

Apple hasn't banned Blu-ray they just aren't ever going to include it on a Mac. They've done away with the optical drive, which I can appreciate as I only use mine to install Windows and one game, and you can pickup the external optical drive if you need one. If you want Blu-ray, grab an external Blu-ray drive and hook it up under Windows.

I don't know why people are trying to make this sound like a bad thing, oh that's right, because it's Apple and everything they do is bad.

Most people I personally know are "average" users, some even below and they don't use optical drives and haven't for many years.

Until bandwidth is fast and consistently distributed nation-wide, physical media is necessary.

I have a need for optical drives. Others do not. Others do not want the quality or options I do and I respect that.

It doesn't either..

Then it really begs the question of why all the fuss? Apple has been moving diskless for quite a while.

You can stream/download "quality" if you had the right internet speeds. I have posted a screenshot (you probably didn't see it) of me streaming 4K video without any problems from YouTube along with my network usage meter thing in Task Manager for Windows 8 at 90 Mbps. I know a lot of people don't have those sorts of internet speeds but soon a lot of people will have those speeds.

By the way, even though I don't have a 4K monitor. The 4K video I was streaming had better image quality than any blu-ray I have seen. I do agree with you, at the moment for some people optical drives are a must. But external optical drives do exist.
