Go do some research on that before you tlak about it. It's not the same as Micro USB. It's a bit different and there's another /similar/ cable that I won't give the name for so you can do some research that it is like.

When it comes to looks and portability, everyone would generally take a thinner sleek and sexy computer over a big black hulk of a computer ( unless you're one of those poeple into ugly 'gamer' style cases ).

Same can be said about the TV sector. Why are they getting skinnier? Do people need ultrathin TVs? No, but it damn sure looks amazing though.
Better yet, Apple has been posting growths in the PC sector, unlike other companies. This means that they know what they're doing. Just because you or the needs of others on the forum require a drive, doesn't mean it's speaks for the entire population. Always take in consideration where you are drawing your sample from.

This so much. When my grandparents last year wanted to upgrade their tv from their huge tube style 27" one, both of them went straight for one of the 4x" Samsungs because of it's looks and thinness. Sure some people don't care about looks, but a lot of people do. And Apple knows it and have made a fortune off of it. They know what their customers want.

Apple is getting stupid.

I suppose you need an external to do anything.

Won't be long before they expect CDs to be replaced by nintendo style cartridges rolleyes.gif

They don't expect you to use CD's at all hence the lack of an optical drive.

I wonder if they're going to reduce the cost of models that still had the drives. Mmmmmmmmmmmm no, probably now. Them not giving including something is actually a feature because it saves you size and weight. I bet they charge you more as a premium for "forward thinking."

See how that works?

They won't charge less and they won't charge more. It will still be the same price.

No of course not. You pay the same for less and then you have to pay another 70$ for an ODD. At least your 10000000000x cooler and more hip because you just bought something with an Apple logo.

Do you read my replies to you? You don't have to use an Apple one if you don't want to. A regular USB external HDD will work fine. I have a $15 external ODD that worked fine on my Mac.
