No micro SD slot and no LTE on the Nexus 4 are a deal breaker for me.

$299 for an 8GB unlocked phone... and the lack of a micro-SD slot is a deal breaker?

Don't get me wrong, there are far better phones out there, but at that price point, I don't think so. wink.gif

For me it is. I was hoping the next Nexus phone to be a phone that would be able to compete with flagship devices (like the Galaxy Nexus), and it fell considerably short.

Bump the price and make it a desirable product IMO.

That's a great price for the Nexus 4, and very good hardware, Adreno 320!

Nexus 10 looks like a capable piece of hardware, dual channel finally! High Res for native 3M photos and whatnot thumb.gif

Curious to see the benchmarks

It is competing with the Flagships when it comes to the hardware.

GoogleDrive + Music alleviate some of the pain of being limited to 16GB internal storage max.

Unfortunately, if you add those features you want, then you're looking at the LG Optimus G which is $550 USD unlocked.

You didnt outright state it, but it is implied. You said it is like an Iphone, thus implying copied/borrowed ideas from.

He didn't say one copies another, or which came first. His point is simple, these devices are similar to Apple's devices (and conversely Apple devices are similar to these), yet nobody criticizes these, and everyone seems to criticize the Apple devices. He's just pointing out a double standard that many people seem to have.

Adding LTE and a micro SD wouldn't cost $250. LG/Google had to cut costs to hit the $300/$350 price point, and I think they cut too much. Bumping it to $400/450 with 16GB/32GB and LTE would have made the phone a lot more desirable.

His point is that LG has to have a "flagship" device of their own with a flagship price. If you make the devices too similar, then the cheaper one cannibalizes the more expensive one. It's simple economics. LG doesn't want one of their own devices completely destroying another one of their devices, all at a lower price. That's just stupid.

Is it worth the $250 price hike to move to an equivalent device with a micro SD card slot and LTE? You get to decide that one. Remember that there are royalties associated with both pieces of tech (especially LTE) so that's part of the price jump right there. Also, LTE makes the device far more desirable (as you've already pointed out) and decidedly quicker on the internet. That's basically what you're paying for.

Sigh. I waited all this time just to learn that I can't get one.

Ninja edit: refer to my avatar.
Edit 2: How can your flagship phone-- THE Android flagship, not have LTE? I mean, Verizon is one thing, but GSM networks have LTE too... I just don't know how you can regress in such an important area. Everyone HATED the 4S because it didn't have LTE. And a year later the nexus line goes from 4G -> 3G?
