Thanks! I'll join once it's setup and I can validate. thumb.gif

You know, I've been thinking the same thing actually. Every time I go through a new build -- the headache of Googling a billion forums for positives/negatives on compatibility -- I always think to myself, 'I should setup an open site where people list computer components and their experiences between ones on a chart (like an organized wiki/database) for all this crap.' Then, of course, I finish the build and stop stressing. Hmmm.

But yeah... I did have one PDF that someone made for ZZ7E-ITX but it sucks to rely on others to update it.

Yeah, I have seen that pdf, and actually had some members said that info on it was incorrect.

I am going to pm all the members tomorrow (I keep saying tomorrow but its 2 in the morning lol, maybe I should go to bed soon) and see what coolers they use and what the pros and cons are. Then I will make a chart.

edit, lol its now 1am because of daylight savings time, time travel

This. A closed loop like an H60 will probably be far more capable than these tiny air coolers and will be more efficient as well because it won't spread the heat inside the case, but will be directing outwards. In confined areas such as an M-ITX case heat doesn't really get dissipated quickly enough and it just turns into an mini oven.

Ouch. I was watching the BIOS to see temps at idle before loading any OS. It climbed to 99.5 C before I said eff-this and shut it off. I'm 99% sure the stock cooler is seated well. I only checked it 10+ times. ...unless it's an actual problem with the CPU, or even the temp sensor. I'll take the PSU out a bit and recheck everything tomorrow.

Hating Computers Mode: On

I'll think about the H60 if I can get creative with these limitations, maybe in the 140mm top fan spot. It needs to survive a likely bumpy USPS trip from US to Russia though, so I'm somewhat terrified of liquid somehow leaking.

Is it pretty strong?

It's a closed loop, meaning everything is sealed off. With it properly mounted I seriously doubt it will leak, since the tubing itself is melted together with the barbs. If anything I would be more worried about the HDDs surviving the trip.

Alright, I'll seriously consider it. The hard drives can handle very heavy impact when they're shut off, especially since it's the side mounting that would get a lot of the force. Or so I've read and hope. smile.gif

I'll compile a list of possible low-profile coolers for Z77E-ITX later today for others in this situation.

I'm using this in my build. Here's a mini-review:

It turns out that a wire fell and blocked the stock cooler's fan from moving during that first test. It's still surprising to see how quickly it can creep up to 100+ C. It's now ~38-45 C idle in a slightly cold room. I'm still going to get a new one. I don't trust anything that's not fully screwed down.

Is Theta 31's "60mm" height the total (with the fan)?
