6950 2GB the way to go?

I currently have an ASUS 3 slotter 69502GB that I need to RMA. I was looking to get more computer for gaming and eventually try eye infinity sometime. I was considering buying another 6950 2GB or simply selling the one I get back from RMA and buy something else that gives me the best bang for the back performance.

Right now I can get a Saphire 6950 2GB for like $170 AR $10. It comes with Dirt Showdown and Sonic game which maybe I can sell both for at least $20.

So for around $310~ spent, I will have 6950 2gb crossfire... is there anything else I can get for that price for close performance? I currently play at on my Asus 24" monitor using 1080p resolution.

I'd probably go with a 7950 to be honest.

Comps

Would a 7950 be close to crossfire 6950? Specially if I overclock the 7950 a little bit?

sell your HD 6950 for 150 bucks. get a HD 7950 OC. overclock it to 1.1+ Ghz . HD 7950 (1.1 Ghz) is twice (2x) the perf of the HD 6950.A single GPU like HD 7950 is always better than multi GPU solutions . You can avoid micro stuttering and will get the best experience.

Crossfire can only be done on identical chips. HD 7950 with HD 7950. Get the sapphire HD 7950 Boost for 305 bucks with the NEVER SETTLE game bundle.

Sounds like a good idea. I didn't expect a 7950 to be 2x time of a 6950. But if it is that's great, more reasons to go with that card you linked since it has 3GB vram which it's even better when I try eye infinity.

Will check if Tigerdirect has that same card to save on taxes and get 4%-6% cash back.

Looks like newegg is the best bet. TD has it for the same price, but w/o the games. It's $30+ more with the games bundled.

I wish Amazon would do the bundles and offer same price. Also miss the days w/o CA taxes :/
