Microsoft has been doing this for as long as I can remember. I was in middle school when the Netscape/IE browser wars were going on and Microsoft will try and buy you, if they can't buy you they will buy whomever your partners are or whomever you license and of your tech from. There is a reason they faced an anti-trust suit and just barely avoided being broken up like old Ma Bell.

A lot of people here are fans of technology and sometimes they conflate their love of a product with love for the company that makes that product. Make no mistake though that the only thing any of these companies love is your money. Microsoft, Apple, Netflix, Samsung, it does not matter, by definition, by law, they are motivated by profit.

Ah Netflix the stock that everyone seems to be speculating on. Icahn just brought a 9.98% shareholding on it, well before the Microsoft speculation broke anyways... Seems like Netflix owners are going to reap some rewards at the moment.
