High temp on water-cooled GPU?

Thread Starter
While doing fur stress testing, it maxes out at about 70C. Is that a little hot, or normal? Water cooling specs in signature. I shook the crap out of it too, no air.
About 35-36C idle...

What water block do you have installed?

How much cooling do you have? (rads)

What pump are you using?

PICS!!! wink.gif

EDIT: Derp, I should read!

Pics of what?

Also, I should note that my GPU is overclocked to 1280/3328

Do you get warm air coming out of the rads?

Are the tubes warm to the touch when you're benching?

If not then maybe you have a bad seating on the GPU block. Take it off, clean re-apply tim and re-seat.

Other problems could be a kink in the tubing and the flow isn't nominal.

Pics of the rig. So we can see the setup you have.

Seems hot to me, I never break above 55C with a HW labs blackice 120 rad and 1 2600 rpm fan in pull.

Sounds like bad contact to the core. How are your CPU temps?

Double check to make sure you used the correct thickness thermal pads and try to repaste the block.

Yes, the air coming from the rads is warm, and the tubes are warm too. I reapplied the TIM a couple of times before installing the card, to be 100% sure.

One thing to note, though.

When I put Coollabratory Liquid Ultra in it, and took the heatsink back off, there was NONE on the block. It didn't even make contact. With a thicker paste, though (MX-4) it made contact and spread nicely.
Coolabratory Liquid Ultra has a VERY thin application though - that would be why. Could this indicate not enough pressure from the block? It's screwed down as tight as it will go.

maybe you dont have enugh rad space i ran a 5970+5870 and a i7 930 then a 2600k on a rx360+rx240 and my gpus never got over 50c heavly overclocked gaming they would stay under 40-45c

If its not making a tight fit somthing is wrong for sure maybe your using the wrong vrm or memory pads and making it not fit right on the core.

yea, that seems a little high, My two 580s don't even get passed 45 degrees Celsius when folding, try resetting the block or check how well your flow is.
