Need an integrated amplifier reccomendation

Thread Starter
I am looking for a good integrated amplilifer and my budget is somewhere between 200-300 dollars. I would like the amplifier to have 150 watt output at 8 ohms. I do not want to waive the quality of sound, however, so if my budget is to tight, please tell me that. I'd rather wait and save up money then buy sub-par equipment now.

150w for each channel at 8 ohms, you're looking for a whole lot more than $300. If you're trying to match the max power input of the speakers, it's not necessary at all. The speakers are actually really sensitve at 94dB. 50w input would be blowing your eardrums. lol

I did not realize that, wow. Now that you said 50 watts would be enough, is there an integrated amp that you would recommend for these speakers?

I was looking at the Onkyo M-282 before actually but I don't know how to hook up a subwoofer to it. Also, it only allows for one input.

Ok. NP, let me find another solution then.

Probably will end up being more of a receiver setup then.

Yamaha makes some very good stereo receivers. But they are stereo only. Multiple inputs and does have pre-amp RCA out for a powered subwoofer. For prices, just shop. Dont forget your local high fi dealers.
Yamaha R-S300/500/700

But dont forget to troll craigslist too. You can find steals on there for older receivers, stereo receivers that can work just as well.

I'm not opposed to a receiver. I will look into the Yamaha receivers and I will check on craigslist too. Is what aksthem1 said true about 50 watts being enough? I've heard some people say that 50 watts is too little and the lows start to be drowned out.

50watts would be fine. But you will get some distortion, bad sounds at high volumes. Remember, under powering speakers kills them faster than over powering them.

I did a quick craigslist check of my area, and there quite a few of year, to two year old quality receivers for very good prices. Hell, even found a Denon AVR-1312 for $150 Here it is NEW from Denon $199

I used to run these off my receiver. Klipsch RSX-3 for years no problem. They are 40w RMS with 160w peak. My receiver puts out 105w per channel.

If the minimum power rating on the Axiom M2 V3's are 10 watts, does that mean anything below 10 watts will damage them faster?

The Denon amp is a good choice. I will look into that. Is there anyway to use a subwoofer with an amp that doesn't support it? I found a Sony TA-AX295 for 90 dollars in my area on Craigslist. Theoretically, I could use an audio processor and gate the outputs but then I'm mixing professional sound with home audio and I don't really know if I want to do that.
