It is true that custom roms have longer battery life when idle. However, they drain the battery faster when you are using the phone compared to stock.

also most custom roms tends to be buggy.

ports like CM10 or MIUI on the other hand are meh.

they use generic drivers instead so its like running an HD 7979 or GTX 680 with windows drivers.

it is very evident especially on the camera. it takes worse pictures with it compared to stock.

That's not even remotely true. Custom ROMs often run better on idle and on screen due to removal of bloatware and other garbage that carriers install. I have not once ran into a custom ROM based on the same Kernel and source (AOKP, Sense, etc) that didn't run better in both idle and screen on or while using applications.

CleanROM 5, Paranoid Android, Nocturnal, CM10, and any other ROM I've thrown at my One X outlasts the stock ROM by hours.

Talking compare to Stock Android like GNex. Custom are also buggy as hell. Have CM10 now and Camera does not Work. Its telling me i am missing external SD car which GNex does not have one to begin with.

Don't have that issue here. Is your phone officially supported?

No love for IceColdJelly? I use IceColdSandwich on my Inspire, and it's just excellent, ICJ is made by the same team. They strip the best from AOKP, CM, add some of their own and combine it into a ball of awesome. biggrin.gif They're the sole reason I'm even going OneX. They even have full working camera and 720P video camera working on the inspire despite HTC never giving out drivers.

And ya, CM7, CM9, CM10, IceCold, no ROM I've ever run has had as bad of battery as stock Sense. Even beyond having no bloatware, you gain the ability to disable apps of things you don't want running, but can't be uninstalled for whatever reason. Hell, My Inspire with IceCold lasts a week of standby now. So much for all the reviews who said the Inspire couldn't go a day without charging.

You are running the completely wrong ROMs then. When a ROM is mature enough, there isn't a problem at all, grabbing day-1 is for testers only. Both IceCold, JellyTime, and CM7 work flawlessly on my Inspire.

Then why run a buggy ROM like CM10? Switch to something that actually works. Cyanogen Mod has gone WAY downhill the past couple years. Every since the head guy got hired by Samsung. Dont bash all custom work because you have had bad experiences with a ROM that is usually more buggy than not.

Switch to VanirROM, ViciousMIUI, JellyBelly (often has small bugs), or AffinitySeries
Oh, and camera not working is usually kernel related not the ROM. The kernel is the part with the camera drivers. ROM just has the camera app

I have tried a lot of them. I just liked CM10 because it was very close to stock. Now i am just going to wait for 4.2 and go ROM hunting again. I had a fantastic ROM for ICS which was called GummyNex. The problem was they stopped making ROMs for 4.1. Cant seem to fins a ROM as good every since.

That camera thing doesn't sound like something CM would release. Did you fully wipe system/cache/delvik before you installed? By now all the JB Roms for the Gnex are the same reliability. The only difference is features. I've tried a handful of them but I usually switch between AOKP and Paranoid. If you are having issues, the guys over at RootzWiki are really good at helping.
