my GTX460 fan is not moving anymore and whenever i want to play heavy games like sims3,nba2k13,AION the game will just work for 5min then my computer will automatically shut itself down, after that i turned on the pc then blue screen appeared then my computer shut down again and restart and shut then restart on it own..it start normally then i tried to reboot it but at the middle of installing again the files it shut itself down and never worked ive removed and clean EVERYTHING but its not working/turning on,i didnt use my computer for like a day.. then i used it yesterday morning then it worked then i install all my files and games.i tried surfing the internet watch 5 movies..BUT i cant play the games that i want anymore maybe because the fan is not moving i already put an oil in it cause im thinking it may smoothen the flow of its fan but its really not moving... what will i do?should i replace the fan of my ge force gtx460?please i really need your help guys.thanks.smile.gif

either the motor has failed or the power cable for the fan has been damaged somehow. Either ways means that that heatsink/fan combo is no longer useable on that card, and you will have to go out and purchase a 3rd party heatsink.

What model is your card anyways?

DO NOT RUN THAT GPU WITHOUT A MOVING FAN

Okay, got that out of my system. If you fan's not moving it means the card is shutting itself down under load to prevent it from cooking itself. I wouldn't even power up Windows with that thing not spinning.

Time for a new GPU or to replace the heatsink on that one. Please fill out your rig specs in your signature so that we can most effectively advise you.

is the fan plugged into the GPU fan connector?
Have you tried spinning the card with your finger?
contant the dealer and ask what to do?
It could be something simple and it could be something worse

It may just be the fan header on the GPU may have overvolted? have you tried plugging the fan into something else?
