Windows 8 dual-monitor setup with one touch and one non-touch monitor?

Thread Starter
Has anyone tried this setup? Or read about it anywhere? I'm wondering how well it works.

I've just upgraded to Win 8 and I quite like it. I'm using a 27" 2560x1440 non-touch monitor, and would like to have a smaller touch-screen monitor running alongside it to deal with the Metro apps. If I'm just switching my PC on to check email or something simple, I'd like to do that in Metro on a smaller monitor.

Anyone know about this? And does anyone have any recommendations for touch-screen monitors? I've not owned one before and I'm not really sure what size would play best with my existing monitor!

Thanks!

I don't see why it wouldn't work if you set the touch monitor to your primary, and thus made the start menu appear there with the Metro apps.

I, for one, run dual monitors a lot, and I find that that is the only flaw with Windows 8 thus far. Metro and two monitors don't get along very well.... bruce.gif

Other than that, Win8 has been fantastic.

Yeah, I'm sure it will work, just wondering how seamlessly, like if the start menu is open on one monitor, will it remain open when I start opening things on the other? I guess I should just hook another monitor up and find out, as that's got nothing to do with it being touch!

Oh that's a shame. When I saw the second screen function built right into the Devices charm, I thought that was a good sign frown.gif

Oh, it's not BAD by any means. I think it might take a bit of getting used to, but sometimes my start menu would appear on a random screen when I had it set elsewhere and...just some strange stuff in general. It's still MILES ahead of, say, Mac OSX or something like that, but I wouldn't necessarily call it "refined" yet. That , or I just need more time to get used to it. redface.gif
