Sadly, I outgrew Nintendo somewhere back in the Gamecube days...

I can still remember the blasphemous day when I unwrapped F-Zero and popped it in the cube to only be met by the SEGA and Nintendo logos... I did a double check outside to make sure hell hadn't frozen over... still it was a fabulous game. We had lots of good times on that little box. (looking at you druken Mario Kart Double Dash!)

The Wii (Game Cube 1.5), while financially a success, just didn't have that many appealing games and the ones that we did buy were often a step backwards from there previous iteration and tossed aside due to the repetitive and iffy nature of them of the motion controls.

The WiiU (Game Cube 1.9) looks to be a decent machine and the $180.oo'ish controller really does seem to have some nifty tricks behind its screen if the PR videos are to be believed. But Nintendo has really dropped the ball in my opinion. They have no unified online architecture, chat is through 3rd party support only, no way to replace said controller for the first several months and said price of said control is nearly $200 and with Mario being the only exclusive 'must have' title I have to give the WiiU a pass for the time being.

Will definitely be getting one. To me nintendo will always be ahead of sony and ms. First one to market with motion controls and made buckets of money off this. I think the wii U has that same formula for success. Maybe the screen idea wasnt original (dreamcast) but the way nintendo plans to use and access it is like nothing before. I only played the rayman demo and I was hooked. $349 for a 32GB system and butt load of accessories is a steal and I hope that bundle is still around first of the yr. Not sure if anyone complained about the storage but the wii u will be using "bluray like capacity" discs so why would u need a huge hard drive.

Planning to find a friend that has a Wii U and playing the next Zelda game whenever it comes out. biggrin.gif

You can see Nintendo going back to hardcore gaming by including Black Ops 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3.

I'm not someone who can afford to buy a lot of consoles of the same generation so I want to choose one carefully.
I bought the Wii long time ago, because of the way to play games. It was really nice, but after 2 or 3 years I was kind of disappointed about the games (childish)... I could see that on the PS3, there are a lot of nice games (Uncharted, Mass effect, etc.). Finally I sold my Wii and bought a PS3 (with my roommate).
I'm afraid it will be the same with the Wii U. The Wii U will be fun for "at home party" with friends but not to play "hardcore" games.

So I don't think I'll buy it.

This is just my opinion.

The way I look at it is that the PC is for hardcore games, and console games are more like popcorn flicks. Nintendo makes the best 1st party games bar none, and virtually every PS3/XBOX360 game worth playing is available in a superior form on PC.

Full disclosure I own an XBOX360, PS3 and a Wii.
