7970s...Skyrim...artifacting...and me =\

Hello everyone.
It appears that I once again require your consultation and advice on a matter of Skyrim artifacting.

Basically whenever I play Skyrim, everything works fine...until I go into the inventory / trading / sometimes dialog ( super rare in dialog, hadn't seen it lately since 12.11).
When I start looking through items I get a seizure of unsexy random black lines and colorful hexagons/suqares/triangles/ random shapes. They flicker for a second, and go away, then come back and can cover 10% of the screen. As soon as I exit the forsaken inventory/trading and back into action all is fine and no issues at all ( that's a lie, I've seen it once in Soul Cavern during teleportaion sequence, but that was only once).

Now usually when you get unsexy graphical artifacts like this that means bad OC or bad Vram, right ? well no OC whatsoever, all in stock atm. So that will point to Vram ? But then again I've tested the cards with OCCT ; Kombustor ( OpenCl, DX9, DX10,DX11) ; Heaven 3.0 ; 3d mark 11 ; Battlefield 3 ; Serious Sam 3 ; Darksiders 2; Risen 2 ; Nexuiz benchmark ; Hard Reset benchmark ; Borderlands 2 ; Total-War Shogun 2; Saints Row 3 ; Stalker ; Far Cry 2 ; Metro 2033 - and no artifactacts there. No errors detected as well. I've also switched cards around since I did change the loop recently, and still same stuff.
I'm running default CCC settings atm.

Any advice ? This game is really starting to piss me off. First I had "swimming effect" with my tri-sli of 580s, now I get bonanza artifacting in inventory with tri-fire 7970 ( I know tri-fire doesn't work, and one card is always idle).

Sooo is that a common issue ? any way to fix it ?

Common issue with the game.

It was never really optimized for PCs, never really optimized for Crossfire let alone 3 cards like you have (that is probably your problem right there).

I played it on a 5970 all along knowing that if I disabled one GPU, I'd have the game running smoother. Each driver update brought one graphical glitch after another, without solving older ones.

I finished the game, counted my blessings and never touched a DLC.

Bethesda wants to go X-Box, well let them.

Basically, what I'm saying is that the game engine and to a lesser extent AMD drivers are to blame and the game hates Crossfire. If you want to eliminate some of your headaches play the game with only one card.

Like this guy said, the game has bad compatibility with computers because it was originally made for the xbox. I have the PC version of the game and the same thing happens to me, just gotta live with it I guess.

I have not had any issues at all with Skyrim or any other game for that matter on my AMD/ATI rigs. But then again I am not running Crossfire on any of my rigs anymore. I had my 6950's Crossfired at one point but put one of the cards in my intel rig as I got tired of the driver crashes with my 560ti so I shoved it in a closet and put the 6950 in it.

I run two FX rigs one with a 6950 and the other with a 7950 and even though the PC version of Skyrim was made for PC NOT Xbox I do not think it was or is Crossfire friendly. Have you tried the game running just one card? I can tell you that the game does just fine on one 6950 or 7950 so it should play just fine on one 7970. I get no slowdown or stuttering at all on ether rig, can't say that about my intel build though even with the 6950 instead of the 560ti it still has a stutter problem.

All in all I have come to the conclusion that it is better to run one really good card than to run two or more in a Crossfire or SLI setup. I have had much less problems that way.

Yeah, I had 40 mins today to run single card disable cross via ccc - didnt see any poping artifacts. I'll do some more testing. I just hope that Fallout 4 won't be on same engine with same problems ( sounds unrealistic lol).
