No, not at all. You will only notice a slight difference between the cards. If you are stuck with AGP, I would suggest you wait a while until the ATI x1950pro comes out (possibly the last AGP card). The x1950pro will own the 7800GS tremendously.

yeah def not a good upgrade, now the 7900GS thats a different story, that would be a good upgrade, theyre getting pretty cheap

Hi Folks,

Have you ran any 3D Mark benches? If so have you used the ORB Project search and compare? I know its just a synthetic test but you still get an idea of performance. From what I have been able to find my 7800GS out performs the 1600 by a substantial margin.
I have attached an 05 and 06 comparison, these were the top 1600 scores of my search and compare. It seems the 850 series also out performs the 1600.

It does outperform the X1600PRO however i wouldnt invest in that card as its not much of a gain for the money. I would wait for the X1950PRO to come to AGP...Im not sure on that though but ive read a few articles on that.

You guys are right, I looked at the VGA charts on toms hardware and the average difference is only like 4 - 5 frames.

Sense I wont be getting a 7800GS and I cant find anything that says that the X1950Pro will be release before christmas, do you guys think that these would be worth while upgrades?

Well as said your Card is actually not all that bad. However what is holding back your system the most is that Celeron CPU. They dont have the best architecture and thus arnt the best for gaming and such.

You may wish too look for a CPU upgrade first mate.
Save up and build a whole new system. Any upgrade you stick in your current one will cost 20-30% more than it should. 7800GS would go nicely with a 4ghz P4, but not with a Cellery.
