an "updated" core that slows down WU completion makes perfect sense?

I've been getting this beta wu, ppd estimate around 190k.
are there any specific flags needed to get this wu?

The beta work units are very far and few between, and the rest of the time you are stuck folding at 30-40% reduced PPD with the version 2.25 core.

I keep getting them, have beta and client-type specified using v7 client.

Imo it's fair that a gpu should get a big point increase... considering that gpu's do more 'work' and also use more electricity, costing us more to fold with.

If it continues a dual gtx680 system could get 400k+ ppd which would be nice. There's a reason that supercomputers use gfx cards and not cpu's like the opteron.

4p system owners might be displeased though, but people shouldn't obsess over ppd... put helping research ahead of ego. ATM I have to put up with a very loud reference gfx, so that's an extra pita that is worth some more bonus points biggrin.gif

At a time like this, it seems I should have gotten a 660/670 over a 7850. NVIDIA cards seem like the better performer in most things nowadays. :/ Oh well, maybe some day I'll find a good enough reason to switch out my perfectly fine and cool running 7850 for a 670.

Ive set beta client type in v7 but not got one of these wus yet frown.gif

Does this mean that these wus are gonna be more common soon and we can expect 200k ppd as normal from a high end nvidia gpu? Or is this temporary?
