Simple question, thanks!

I want to stream media from my computer tower (located directly next to my television) to my HDTV. The problem is this...I am currently running dual monitors and the 2 slots that come out of the back of my graphics card are taken up (one slot for each monitor). I used to have an HD cable running from my tower to my TV when I ran one monitor...but I don't want to sacrifice dual monitor viewing. So my question is...What if I just had an HDMI cable running from the TV and left it unplugged but when I wanted to watch a movie I could unplug monitor 2 and plug the TV in its place...would this then show whatever monitor 1 shows?

I want to load up the media center on my PC (primary monitor)...pick a movie...play that movie...and have the TV mirror the images of my primary monitor so I can watch them on the big screen. If I unplug monitor 2 and plug in the TV how can I get the TV to mirror the other monitor, bc I have a feeling the PC will just think its a second monitor.

Thanks
