So? ... Most of those tasks can even be used pre Vista/7 anyway.

Why not just create a .reg file first? Then take what you need from that .reg and put it into a .bat/.cmd???

Or have that .bat create that .reg (I think these are within batch capabilities.

As people mentioned PowerShell would be the newest method.

for creating a .reg from batch it'd be simple
echo Your text here >> textfile.txt

then you'd just run the file (silently too). then simply remove it afterwards.

Otherwise batch can do a direct write to registry

to find out what you want just find out where the registry value is and make th emodifications...

Easiest method of doing that is just to export each change you want into a .reg change the value to what you want then to combine it. Have the bat create that .reg and then run the .reg silently.

Note: I'm pretty sure > will overwrite the file whereas >> will add to.

Indexing: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/38111-disabling-indexing-service-reg-question/
System restore: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295659

etc etc... just find out individually sorry I can't help much atm.

Convenience. It's annoying doing all the optimization stuff for an SSD over and over.
