Take a look here, it will help you. www.overclock.net/t/1313179/official-delidded-ivy-bridge-club/0_100

But surely they can be lapped? Im not taking the lid off, the heck with that!

How long did you test in prime? My chip can do 1.245v @ 4.6 but even with my custom loop it gets way too hot to test for any length of time. Even with an EX 240 with push pull.

Ivy requires way less volts for certain multis but it gets way hotter than SB, even at 5.1ghz my 2600k wouldnt come close to the temps my IB chip sees at comparably lower volts.

In my honest opinion i think we both have average chips, as you will see for any length of testing the chips get very hot.

Someone lapped their 3770k after they delided it, and the temp difference went like this.

stock->Delid 23c less load temps
Delid-> Lapping 11c less load temps

He did it in stages.

I always run P95 for a min of 8hrs before im willing to call a chip stable. In this case I let it run all through the night and most of the morning, it was 14hrs total and the hottest my temps had reached were around 76-77c across all 4 cores.

Room temps in my house that night were 72F.

Ok sounds similar to my rig, as for the guy claiming 60c on air if you are claiming that is prime that is BS lol.....

Yes this seems more like it then, these guys just run warmer due to the smaller dye and the lid stuff. I think you can push it further easily, but you will see some higher temps once you get into the 1.3v area which will more than likely be needed for 5.0. I would say you have a golden chip if you can do 5.0 at less then 1.3v. I dont think it is worth pushing that kind of heat though.

4.8GHz at 1.28v, with 70-80 degrees...? I am having a hard time believing that.

Man the Delid thing nets awesome results but im afraid to do that, if I killed this chip I would absolutely die. Isnt there a risk that your Heatsink could damage the CPU with the lid taken off like that? Crush it?

Oh well, im sorry if your having a hard time believing it as I have no reason to lie about it. I have better things to do with my time than that. lol.
