Hey all,
I recently purchased a subscription to Tunnelr's VPN service, and I'm having some weird problems and I am not sure if it is Tunnelr's fault or the OpenVPN client that I downloaded.
At first, all was well and working good, then I was having connection issues. I am currently in the Cincinnati area and i use Tunnelr's node in NYC (pretty far away, I know, their Virginia node is at capacity and I can't use it). At first I thought it was Hurricane Sandy's fault, maybe power failures to the node I am using. So, I switched to a node in Dallas, and I'm having the same thing happen. I should note that this only happens if i dont use the internet for a while, or if i put my computer to sleep and reawaken it. Before I open a support ticket with Tunnelr, I wan't to make sure that the problem isn't on my end.
Here's exactly what happens. When I lose connection, I look a the status in open vpn and it says connected, but to a weird address that has some symbols in it. even if I close OpenVPN completely, i still can't connect to the internet until i completely restart my computer. the wifi symbol in the taskbar still shows that I am connected 100%. This makes me think that this is a problem on my end and I don't want to bother the Tunnelr staff about it. This has not happened before i installed openvpn. a google search did not help.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Here's what OpenVPN looks like when it drops the connection
