I'd say it's the client rather than the service. Try downloading Version 2.2 of the OpenVPN client somewhere on the net. It's what i use and it's rock solid.

It's not as fansy as the current version though - No frills.

Okay, I figured out why i had to restart after a failed internet connection. when I tried to quit openvpn, i was only going to the taskbar and selecting "quit", but when i went to taskmananger, the process was still running! sneaky, openvpn...

anyway, i will try downloading v2.2 like you said.
