I was in the exact same predicament a couple months ago as you are now. I have used my diamondback green plasma mouse for exactly 7 years, like you. The right button started to act up and required a lot of force to click. I decided it was time to move on. After many recommendations I picked up the Razer Deathadder black edition. I instantly noticed that the shape was terrible, I was so accustomed to the diamondback shape that the deathadder was just too unnatural to me. I used it for a bit and eventually started having issues with the mouse double clicking on a single click. I sold the mouse on ebay and picked up a refurbed G400 for $20. I loved the precision of the mouse and the feel of it but it still nothing like the diamondback shape. I held on to it and purchased a CM Storm Spawn. Let me tell you, this is the best mouse I've ever used. At first the mouse shape seemed weird, it's small and kind of "Quasimodo, the hunchback of Notre-Dame" shaped. First time I used the mouse my hand just fit perfectly, the tactile response is great, the clicks are amazing, the mouse is light. Only issue is that the stock firmware has a very high LoD. So I suggest you try firmware 61 or 62 or whatever.
The diamondback was the last good mouse razer has released. Razer's newer mice have terrible longevity and their support is horrendous.
They cater mediocre products to the mindless "wanna-be pro gamer" crowd. Their keyboards are trash, don't even get me started on their headsets. I don't know much about their mouse pads or their gaming laptop. Their mice WERE good, but not anymore.
Logitech G400 and CM Storm Spawn is where it's at.
G400 has no anglesnapping, no precision, one of the most accurate sensors on the market. I believe the deathadder has similar or same sensor but the general build quality of the razer product is garbage.
And I've already covered the Spawn.
I really recommend trying out the Spawn if you liked the diamondback and you can return it if you don't like it.
I feel like a Jehova's witness trying to convert an atheist.
