Star Wars was never hard Scifi and always very family friendly.
Also its not like Lucas Films is gone. Its still them making the movies only now Disney owns the rights.
There was SO much cheese from the original...HEY WERE SUPER CLONED TROPPERS YET WE CAN'T HIT THE BROAD SIDE OF A BARN!!

EDIT: Apparently he is giving most of the 4billion to charity...Could he be on his way out?

A large portion of Stormtroopers in the original trilogy are actually not clones, and the E-11 blaster rifle is not exactly known for being accurate. smile.gif

I enjoyed Tron... As long as StarWar 7 isnt PG rated.. and has no jar jar binks or stupid sounding droids!!! Gahh

Give us the Dark Knight sequel to Return of the Jedi, dark, realistic, gritty

Honestly couldn't care less what they do with the movies, as long as they don't touch the EU books.

The EU books are pretty dark and gritty and would get completely bastardized under Disney. Hopefully, they allow that side to run separately.

Personally, I would like to see Brad Bird (The Simpsons, The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Mission impossible: Ghost Protocol) direct, with some story writing by Pixar peeps, like Lasseter, or Ed Catmull.

Andrew Stanton already made a better Star Wars prequel than GL. It was called John Carter of Mars. It got drubbed by the critics, but I found that movie to be FAR more enjoyable than Ep I-III.

They bought Marvel, then we got Avengers. If they put a good director in there (Not like they can't afford one!) mayhaps the new films will be epic.
I'm on the wait and see train.
I also think it's awesome that a generation of kids who did not get to see the original films in the theater (not that garbage like episode 1 mind you or the remade editted crap) will get to see some new films in the series.
You all had to know that one way or another this cash cow was going to get milked some more. Of course, I did not expect Disney to buy Lucas Films nor did I expect Lucas to sell it.

Figure I'd just add this article in here..
Quote:
Harrison Ford says he is open to another ‘Star Wars’ film

For all those who hope the upcoming "Star Wars" movies are more "original trilogy" than "prequels" -- there is hope: Harrison Ford, who played the scruffy-looking nerferder Han Solo in the original films, will consider reprising his role...

The mystery source "close to the just-announced 'Star Wars' sequel" went on to explain that Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) are equally enthusiastic about the possibilities.

Source

Another interesting thing noted in the article that I haven't found here on OCN surprisingly!
