[NZXT] NZXT Launches the Kraken X40 and X60 280mm AIO CPU Coolers - Page 16

I’d like to know if the copper heat transfer plates on the krakens are the same specs as the copper plates on the rest of the Asetek re-badged products. If they are, then I can't see how the larger radiator would help any.

The finish on the stock Asetek heat transfer plate is slightly convex. This can be felt when applying the plate on a flat surface like a window or mirror (this goes for both 620 and 920). From the pics, it looks like the krakens are the same.

Also, the Stock Asetek plates are heat transfer limited. This is clearly evident with the 920 when monitoring temps. There is a VERY significant difference in performance after sanding a mm off the surface of the heat transfer plate to a flat finish.

Again, I'm wondering if NZXT/Asestek tackled these issues with the krakkens or if they used the same specs as the rest of the Re-badged products.

The Antec 620 and 920 use a different platform than the NZXT Kraken. They are not the same.

So, you guys have installed the X60 in the top of a Fractal R4? I know it's on the compatibility list, but how much actual testing was done? After all, an H100 barely fits there, and that depends on the motherboard, etc.

Thinking of getting the Kraken X60 for my Phantom Orange/Black Full Tower. but no mention of compatibility on the chart. no mention of the phantom 810 at all actually. Anybody know if the X60 will fit. (was gonna go quad 140mm fan push pull)

I believe it would fit the old phantom but you definitely need to mod screwholes for it. the phantom 410 on the other hand, would only fit a x40, and I believe the new phantom 820 supports both natively.

The Phantom 820 will fit it without any modifications. The Phantom will fit with slight modification.

When you say slight modification. does that mean just alter case screw mounts. or get the dremel out. lol. thumb.gif
