Sony Vaio UEFI BIOS Windows 7 8

Thread Starter
Hi,

I made this post because I just spent 3 hours trying to find out how to boot into the BIOS / UEFI on my sister's new Sony Vaio.

The solution is really easy but not a single google search suggested pressing that stupid button doh.gif

Here goes :

Anyone who has a Sony VAIO notebook with a UEFI BIOS and can't seem to get into it..

Power down your laptop and press the "assist" button.

That's it.

I hope I helped a few people get into their Sony VAIO Laptop BIOS UEFI by posting it here.

Have fun ! Good luck ! smile.gif

EDIT : Feb 6, 2012

I should point out to try F2 or F3 first to get into the UEFI BIOS. If that doesn't work then try the assist button.

EDIT : Aug 13, 2013

Revision spelling / layout. Added keywords to help people find it via Google.

Keywords : Sony VAIO Laptop Notebook Windows 8 Win8 Win 8 UEFI BIOS Assist F2 F3 key button solution problem can't get into bios can not get into uefi

Yes I should point out to first try F2 (the usual key - or any other F-key that relates to Sony Vaio) to get into the BIOS. If that doesn't work then try the assist button.

Quoted from MoGTy
"Basically. Anyone who has a Sony VAIO notebook with a UEFI BIOS and can't seem to get into it..
Here's the clue. You don't use F2, F3, or whatever. You just power down your laptop and press the "assist" button."

first things first. THANK YOU! although mine works a little different... From windows 8 to bios, it is as easy as you have said. From no operation system to bios, a good timing on the "assist" button is required on startup (instantly click "assist") and after logo screen appeared (re-click "assist")
