if it's only on the desktop it could be the enhanced pointer precision option.

Which game? Are you sure you don't have raw/direct input enabled? biggrin.gif

First thing I disable after I reformat. Certainly wasn't that.

Windows 8 introduces a new timing method called dynamic ticks. This stops the timer when cpu is idle and apparently may cause issues.

bcdedit /set disabledynamictick on

Also I think W8 now forces HPET on by default. This may not be a bad thing tho. I have no plans to "upgrade" until SP1 so can't do any testing myself.

It doesn't, but I believe it removes support for some of the legacy timers.

I have noticed this too but I haven't found a solution. Very annoying.

I had Win8 installed for so little length of time before I got rid of it that I can't even remember how the mouse felt besides the fact that it seemed different from Win7. I think it was more laggy. The Nvidia driver situation is the same in Win8 as Win7. 295.73 had significantly less input lag than all the 300 series, post-fermi drivers (although I haven't tested 310.33 but I doubt it improves anything).

Then I noticed playing games in borderless-windowed mode resulted in much more vsync chop/flicker than in Win7, so with all the metro annoyances and other things, I just went ape**** and deleted the OS.

Define "significantly".

bump. Feeling this aswell on my Windows 8 pro 64

*edit: I can't get lower than 195 ms in humanbenchmark reflex test anymore either. Used to get 160-180ms avg on windows 7.... I dont know if it's a bad day or windows 8. I will continue testing and listing results for a few weeks.
