Vertex 2 to Samsung 830

Would I notice any difference in everyday's tasks like browsing, file swapping (RAM to disk and back) between 120GB vertex 2 and 128GB 830?
I say 'notice', not interested in benchmarks.

Tnx

I went from G.SKILL Phoenix II to a Samsung 830 256gb. Browsing the pc then yes and for the internet it depends on your speed. It will be a little snapper. File swapping to a HDD. Well that depends on your HDD.

I've got a Vertex 2 on my home computer and a Vertex 4 at work. The Vertex 4 is a little faster with booting and moving big files around. Navigating the internet and opening programs I don't really see much difference. It will not be as life changing as going from a regular HDD to an SSD. With SSD's being so well priced now, I would only do it for an upgrade in storage amount. As in going from your 120GB to a 256GB perhaps.

yeah, that is what I thought too, just wasn't sure, that the difference is negligible. I don't own a SSD, but I have an option to buy Vertex 2 for 35% cheaper then Sansung 830.

I have both... if you are upgrading from a HDD then they are both fast, so no, you won't notice the difference. The difference between SSD and HDD is like night and day, the difference between the best and worst SSDs is barely an hour on that scale.

Upgrading from a Vertex 2 to a Samsung 830, yes it's quicker but again, will hardly notice the difference.

I'd still have the Samsung 830... mainly because of reliability.

Cheers,

DB
