120hz or WQHD?

My apologies. Hogwasher had caught a mistake I failed to notice. 8ms response time is not that bad. The real input lag on monitors varies. Certain IPS panels can be used for gaming despite what some people may think. There are many who use them for gaming. They have said the problems most posters mentioned were non-existent. In fact, the response times and or input lag of various TN monitors can actually be slower than some IPS monitors. I would continue checking reviews online then just deciding if nobody here gives their two cents. I am stuck between two myself. lol

that is not input lag. 8ms is response time. two different things.

I would google what the input lag is on that monitor

Well I'm a resolution "whore" so I always rather have a High res IPS over a TN panel any day.

Also I wouldn't listen to your friend, he clearly has fallen for marketing lingo.

I know for a fact you'll be happy with that dell, but you''ll likely be happy with a 120hz panel. I personally play Strategy games mainly. Only shooters occasionaly and mostly single player. This fact and alot of money fell into my lap is the reason I choose the HP ZR30W

When you have both in one monitor, it's hard to say... but I will say don't worry about the 8ms response time. Input lag is key.

I suggest you check the website prade.de. Ezio manufactures the Foris FS2333 PLS, an IPS variant from Samsung, which has both low response times and input lag. Some TN monitors are actually slower than some IPS screens. You have to research before concluding. The speed in some cases is so trivial that in reality you cannot even notice the difference. Cheap 6-bit pcd 120hz panels are not flawless little angels for the gaming sector either. Poor viewing angles, contrast and color just to name a few. That can affect how well you can see your target. Ghosting does occur on TN monitors. Some have it more than just a little. There is a lot more to it than one is simply better than the other. While manufactures are capable of manufacturing a gaming IPS panel, most people would not buy it because of the cost. That is why you have yet to see them act out on it except a select few. It would be a bad investment. Some of the ones that are available are a far cry from being bad for gaming. The simple fact is: a lot of folks fall victim to marketing. Let Plasma TVs be an example. The cost of them has gone down. People now have the idea that it is somehow inferior to the newer light-bleed happy ****ty LED TVs. I hear, "I want a 12-bit 240hz TV so our movies look better." What about Plasma? "That is old and this is better." Wait a minute here. The blue-ray player is only capable of putting out 8-bit pcd. On top of that the refresh rate of a plasma TV is 600hz. The contrast ratio is better. Etc... I then hear, "Whatever! I am going to talk to the guy at the store (who is going to try to sell him or her the most expensive piece of **** on the floor)." lol You probably get the point.

 Unless you need a new monitor soon you may want to wait. According to Tom's Hardware quote "Apple’s Retina screens still offer the highest pixel density, but QHD is currently it for PC users. This is going to change sooner rather than later."
