hi guys, im new to the site and modding and building and overclocking so everything really, im wanting to water cool my NZXT Lexa Blackline (blue LEDs) iv not got a cpu yet but looking at the i5-3570k and overclock it to 4.0ghz safe or 4.5ghz not sure. im not sure on getting the sandy rather than the ivy what do you guys think ?

im looking at the Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77X-UD5H Motherboard.

im looking at the i5-2500K 3.30GHz or the i5-3570K 3.40GHz.

im looking at Corsair 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory or 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 Mushkin Radioactive.

water cooler with 1 radiator 2 fans push - pull config.

any help on what you think is good stuff would be appreciate. smile.gif

Get the 3570k, the relevant Gigabyte you mentioned, with the Corsair Vengeance RAM as well as the H80. Also for overclocking tips refer to my build log in sig.

Welcome to OCN! I suggest going with the Ivy Bridge over the Sandy Bridge. The 3570k performs similar to the 2500k, it overclocks slightly worse, but it also packs a bunch of newer technology. I think thats worth it. When i say it overclocks worse, i merely mean that the temperatures it reaches are higher compared to its Sandy equivalent. Also, 4 Ghz on air is easily attainable on Ivy! 4.5 Ghz on air might be too, but id suggest a CM 212 EVO or H50 and up for those clocks.
