Just finished building, won't POST. - Page 3

Just reinstalled the CPU. Going to test it after I post this. I took some pictures which i'll upload right away.

I tried using just one stick of RAM at a time. Didn't make a difference.

"Check for video card power from the PSU. Monitor hooked to the video card? PSU is actually working properly despite the spinning fans? the fan from the heat-sink plugged to the MoBo? And so on."

Yes, yes, yes, and yes. :O

Well, sounds like bad RAM modules or your MoBo.
Tried all 4 dimms yet?......RAM both just in case anyhow.

I've only tried A1 and A2 so far. I'll try the other two.

Here's some pics:

I think I might have put a little too much AS5 on. lol

Just tried it again. Still nothing. I tried swapping the ram again as well and that didn't work.

I don't have a floppy drive. Could that possibly be a problem?

You shouldn't need a floppy drive. I'd say it's either a faulty cpu or motherboard.

If you've tried EVERYTHING (and it looks like you have...) then stick the mobo in the microwave for 3 seconds and RMA it.

Haha. Luckily I won't have to do that because I figured out the problem. It's so simple and stupid I don't even want to say how I did it.

I've run into another problem now though. When I insert the Windows XP cd I get this message: "Reboot and select proper boot device, or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key" The cd works fine because I just tried it on the computer i'm currently on. I changed some settings in the BIOS making the CD Drive the first boot device. I disabled the HDD and Floppy Drive so it will only read the CD Drive. I'm not too sure what else to try... any ideas?

Thanks for all the help btw, it's much appreciated!!!

What was the problem? Your probably not the only one who had that problem no matter how stupid you think it might be. If we know what you did to fix it we can help out someone else that might end up in your shoes.

A couple of months back my power supply blow so I got a different one. Hooked it up and didn't get a beep. Took me almost 30 minutes to figure out that I completely forgot about the 4 pin connector.

Sorry I can't help you much with your new problem. Do you know that the cd drive works?

There was one PSU cable that I didn't hook up to the MOBO.

The cd drive gets power. I can hear it spinning too when I put the cd in. I did notice that when I boot up the computer it goes to a SATA/IDE screen and scans for driveRs. (Notice the R). It says no drivers found. I'm thinking that the computer possibly isn't detecting the cd drive?

CrazyHeaven: The holes only line up one way with the MOBO so it should be right. There's 3 holes along the top, 3 along the middle, 3 washers right above the 3 holes along the bottom. I don't see how else it would sit in the case.
No in this pic it has a 24 pin molex and a four pin in the upper right

~~edit~~OH so you forgot the one in the upper right???TSK TSK
