Bad luck man! That's why I will never run a cheap PSU on a PC that will be under constant load.

I'm learning that lesson very well! This is the second PSU in two weeks. But as I fry them I'm replacing them with good Corsair or upper end Rosewill units. I like the better Rosewills. They're as good as the Corsairs in my opinion, and Newegg is having a great deal on a 630w "Green" 80Plus certified. $52 delivered is hard to beat!

EDIT: Done! Should have it by the end of the week. Doesn't help with FFW though.

The 630W Green is a good one. JohnnyGuru's were surprised by it. Said performed like a solid unit than a "green" one. It only earned its "green" label because of its efficiency and so we're not to be dissuaded by it.

I got it. Been folding and OC'ing on it for a year now. Once in a while I had an issue, asked questions about it, they say "oh it's your PSU". Turns out later they're wrong and I just had an issue with my OC.

I've got two of the better Rosewill's now and I've never had any issues whatsoever with them. And I've read a lot of reviews on them and they get high rankings for the most part. Of course you have your die-hards that are unwilling to deviate from their "tried-and-true" brands. Their loss! tongue.gif

Sorry team for not checking in all weekend.
If you're folding on AMD cards, please check out this thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1323729/amd-gpu-folding-on-12-11-beta-drivers/0_50#post_18527688
There's an issue with 12.10 and 12.11b drivers. If you haven't upgraded to those already, it's best to stick with 12.8 for simplicity.

I followed that to the T and my 7870 still only gets 30-40% usage while folding. I reinstalled 12.11 though but manually installed SDK 2.7, maybe I will retry with 12.8. although I rather like the 12.11 drivers especially because it fixed the GPU usage issue that 7870 owners had before.

You have to use atiman to get the uninstall to go right. Everyone had the same issue as you until they finally tried aitman. You can pm 1337Lutz for more info on that. He's one of the 1st to suffer and found the resolution. And the tictoc did a lot of experimenting. Axipher was going to too but I don't think he found time to do so.

I did use ATIMAN, I'm getting steady 40% now instead of 30% so I guess its better than nothing. Honestly though from what I've read people are getting 4K-5K PPD with the 7870s and I'm getting 3K right now so I'll just deal. I'm trying to decide if I'm better off just not folding with the 7870 and using only the 8 cores of the FX-8320. It's hard to tell what setup I get the most PPD with.

I was gonna' help you out and find some info on folding with the 8320. Found some too! You wrote it....biggrin.gif

lol where? In the 8320/8350 thread? That's been the hangout lately. I'm kind of bummed I went with the 8320 instead of the 8350. This batch seems like it was definitely binned lower for a reason. I just didn't want to make the same mistake I made with the 8120 and 8150 where I paid more for the 8150 when 9 times out of 10 you get just as good of an OC on the 8120. Oh well, 4.5GHz with max temp of 55C is pretty solid for prime95. I never get over 45c while folding.

I found it here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1318995/official-fx-8320-fx-8350-vishera-owners-club/2650

I have a 965-BE clocked at 4.0 and I'm getting 10-12K PPD. And that's with me using it all the time. It's my daily driver. When I started out in TC it was my folding rig. Then I upgraded to a Q9550, which is getting 14-16 PPD. It was my TC rig until I got my GTX560, which is blowing the doors off of everything else. nVidia cards are the future of folding in my opinion.
