Takes 25 seconds before PC starts booting from power on?

Hi all,

I installed my newly purchased crucial M4 today and must say its lightening quick with the fresh install

anyway not that this is a new issue now i have the M4 but now i DO have a fast booting drive i have been wondering if there is a way i can stop it taking so long for my BIOS(?) to boot! Basically when i press the on button i still have 'No Signal' for a good 20-25 seconds after that i see my BIOS image and i can start clicking within about 20 seconds from then.

just wondering if there are measures that can be done to make this quicker! had a quick look in BIOS and couldn't find much so disabled any things i don't use.

thanks

Under boot options, do you have your SSD set at #1 in the boot priority list?

If you BIOS has to search every CD/DVD/USB/HDD drive for a bootable sector,..before getting to your SSD last it will take forever.

This is a very hard problem to explain...but some motherboards have SATA controllers on the south bridge and additional SATA controllers on a third party controller. If you boot to the ones on the third party controller it will take forever to boot. If you have this weird situation, your motherboard instruction manual will tell you which SATA ports are "best" for booting off of. My ASRock P67 Fatal1ty Professional has this problem. :-/

Thanks for the reply. I will have a look into that when I find my manual, hopefully there is a PDF online haha. As for the SATA ports i'm pretty certain its in the correct one but always worth a check. And it is set as #1. To be clear it is 25 seconds before I see BIOS boot logo, not for it to load through my BIOS.

@svtfmook

Thanks yea I pretty much turned everything off that isn't being used, but no difference.
