Looking for advice on building my own raidiator - Page 2

I think that just simple soldering that you would use for like bathrooms or splicing wires should work fine, I mean I doubt the rad would be roughed around so that simple soldering should work with the materials just fine

Yep, i agree. Simple soldering would do the trick...assuming he's already got a soldering iron at home..if not, just go get one, not expensive anyway.

To the OP, I will post some pics of what i have at hand (i mean the materials for the radiator) when time allows..but as i said earlier, its gonna consume time and i doubt will be finished anytime soon.

All those knick in the tubes will make it extremely restrictive.
Do you have a gas soldering torch an fins copper tubes already?

What I did I just took a car radiator and cut it to size.(the changed plans and needed a new one)
Good luck thumb.gif

This has been a project in the back of my mind for some time now.
1. if you really want to make your own rad, scavanging round copper tubing all of the same size and flattening it will increase the surface area to cross section ratio giving more thermal conductance.
2. if you want to solder it, (I used to solder aircraft radar parts for years) THE BEST way is with hard silver solder and a small jewelers torch.
3. It's one hell of a lot of work, but if your do your home work and use some good craftsmanship it could be a winner fo sho.

If it weren't for PC's we would all be rednecks working on trucks I bet huh?
