I'm not going to argue that the iPad mini isn't a decent device, but at its current price point, it really cannot compete with other tablets of similar size. It is competing against other iPads. That's it.
I know apple doesn't want the device to fall into the market of less "premium" devices, but honestly, they're selling a device with the specs of an iPad 2, which at this point in the game is quite outdated compared to just about any other tablet on the market.
If the mini had been released a year ago, it might have made a compelling case for itself. Now, however, it is simply behind the times.
It's not behind the times. It's still a powerful device, and it does compete with the other tablets but that's more so because of software than hardware, though the weight and battery life of the Mini is fantastic.
