Seriously how do some people not get why some people have more faith in Steam than anything EA can come up with...
"Got there first"? Really?
You mean like how Microsoft "got there first" for windowed guis?
Or how Apple "got there first" for gesture based phone operating systems?
Or how IBM "got there first"?
Or how iTunes "got there first?
Hell screw competition right? Whoever creates a successful product immediately owns all the rights to the very concept of it and nobody is allowed to do anything remotely similar, right?
We should all just watch the first TV station ever made, drive the same car made by the same car company ever made.......hell why don't we all just play games only from the first gaming dev company ever made? Who was the first publisher? They got there first! Why does Valve even exist anyway? Don't they know someone else got there first?
Come to think of it, why does the USA even exist? I'm pretty sure the Indians got there first?
Everything would just be a whole lot better if people would just accept that someone else got there first.....
Come on man.....
So wait, STEAM proves to other gaming publishers/devs that the STEAM commerce/distribution model (aka a publisher running a store and locking loads of games to their client) is a viable business model, but for some reason its actually EA that set the precedent.....because they copied an existing business model?
How do you set the precedent for something somebody else already set the precedent for? Especially when your apparent precedent is simply a copy of a previeously set precedent set by somebody else?
STEAM is the catalyst for other publishers using the STEAM model, but somehow you're convinced that the source of that comes from other companies following the STEAM model....
So even as you outline what you don't like, you attempt to blame the consequence of the precedent instead of the cause......but because the cause is linked to what you hold dear......its somehow the consequences fault that there is a consequence.......
Thats a great idea! I'll use that in court one day.
I'm going to shoot a dog and when they attempt to arrest me, I'm going to blame the gun and the fact that a bullet came out of it. Sure I was the actual cause of the bullet hitting the dog, but who am I to use logic and such things? Its the consequences fault that there is a consequence! The dog inst dead because I shot it, its dead because it died
. Makes sense!
Since when has cause been directly linked to consequence anyway LOL???
I don't know what it is about people discussing Steam, but the amount of purely illogical and irrational behavior when it comes to discussing it goes way past anything I've ever seen.
Truly amazing.Edited by GrizzleBoy - 10/31/12 at 3:09pm
