It is fantastic, I can barely hear my wife.

The fan sits slightly higher than the heatsink since I have some Mushkin Ridgebacks under it. That puts about a couple mm at best between the case side and the fan. lol

The noise did catch me off guard a little bit. That thing is a beast. I just need to put some material on the inside and against that window with the open fan hole I can't use since the heatsink is so big. I think that will help alot. The NZXT mesh is the only controller (cheap) that can handle 30w per channel.

the cheapest (and relative easy) way to control your high speed fan(s) is by buying the 4wires (PWM) one.
hooked up its PWM wire to your mobo CPU header and you're done

most of my jet engine came with 4 wire

The HE01 comes with two extra sets of clips so you can mount one going in and one going out, plus the fan in the middle. I'm not sure how much a rear fan will help. It is already close to the ultra kaze at the back of the case, so I held off from putting it on.

I was reading the Asus Crosshair can only support a fan up to 12W and so I didn't want to take a chance running the Delta on the board at 24W.

If you ever have questions about a motherboard's ability to suppport fans, check with the manufacturer. Don't guess, and don't rely on "I have heard . . . "

Asus usually has this information in the mb user manuals, which you can download if you are considering a prospective board, or want to search a user manual for your own board: the pdf files are searchable.

For my Gigabyte boards I wrote to tech support. For other manufacturers you should first look in the manual, then consult tech support. You need not guess.
