no one can be good before they are average. That person was merely saying that its not too hard to get to average, thus game is not very discouraging even for causal players

To be fair Dota, in my opinion, has the biggest learning curve of pretty much any game out there. Not everyone has a lot of experience with the game and for new players it can be extremely confusing.

Honestly reading treading through this thread made my head hurt a bit..So because a game is complex, has lots of different strategies and learning curves, is probably the most competitive game out there when it comes to combination of not only strategies, but also reaction time, awareness, you name it..it makes the game a bad game? Or...maybe..just maybe..it makes the game an actually competitive game that is fun as hell to play if you take at least half a brain and a bit of time to learn it. But to be honest, if that's your view on it then by all means, stay away from the game. There is plenty of bad players already in it that we have to deal with.

Also the Halloween mode is fun as hell! Must have gotten over 20-30 free items by now playing it. Can't wait to see what hatches from the egg(well i mean i know there's reddit pics about it, but i mean the actual thing)

Edit: Also, to those who say league of legends has more viewers players, that's because its learning curve is barely half of that for Dota. And as we all know, there are a lot more stupid people out there, then there are smart ones.

Pretty much this. The mode is fun at first but it's nowhere near as entertaining or deep as the regular map and after playing it a few times the roshan killing part of the map is sheer tedious torture.

But if you care about the decos and play with friends the first part can be enjoyable.
