GPU tweak is buggy for the matrix. I really can't suggest the 680 lightning any more, im testing one now and it is a beast card.

Thing is I'm biased towards nvidia over AMD just because of experience but I'm also biased towards Asus over MSI. I'll just see how the poll pans out.

I'd go with a non-reference 7970 from Sapphire or Gigabyte rather than a Matrix or Lightning.

The Matrix is a stellar card in terms of hardware, but you are forced to use GPU Tweak. It's the only program that will let you control the fan speed and that fully supports the VRM (for the best overclocks). You could still burn the fan settings to the card using GPU Tweak and then use another tool. But I don't know if that will limit you in terms of maximum overclock.

Lightning cards (both the 7970 and 680) were reported to have very noisy fans. For me that would be a reason to not even consider them.

For a bit more then a single 680 lighting i'm sure you could get two 7950's which would net much better performance and single card performance would still be great. thumb.gif

My motherboard doesn't support 2 cards at the moment. My plan it to buy one card now then upgrade to haswell with a good motherboard then buy another card biggrin.gif

Get the Matrix it is cheaper and more powerful. The Lightning is voltage locked now with newer revisions, but it can be removed by flashing an old BIOS which will void your warranty if the card dies and you didn't reflash it to the default BIOS.
AMD cards handle MSAA better than Nvidia cards too this generation. So it does make more sense to get the Matrix card, the last thing I think about is overpaying $500+ for a card that can't cut it or will choke when MSAA is turned on.
