MEhhhhhhhhhhhh I agree and disagree. The motherboard is the heart of any build, so I would get the best one I could buy. (I prefer benchmarks to gaming, that is why I am not saying that the video card is the heart of the build). Now I do think you can buy some better looking ram like some gskill trident memory or some corsair dominator platinum memory, but it would just be for looks. For 35 bucks you can get the same performance as some memory that can cost 3 times as much as you can seem from my benchmarks. Lastly, if he gets a GTX 670 for a single screen, that is all he will really need so long as he doesn't have a 120hz monitor. That way instead of spending 40 more on a GTX 680 (for really no reason), he can use that money on a GTX 770 or 870 or whatever in the future.
So while I do agree that things are a bit disproportional, I feel like IB and the 1155 socket is going to last long enough to warrant high end parts, and that the OP can skimp on the ram and still get great performance, while using that money for a better GPU.
In the end it really is a toss up despite my opinion.
