I have a few questions about the PS3 Media Server...
I've noticed that when I save a setting, restart media server... I have to reboot my router & ps3, wait 2-3mins to load the files and then I can play movies. Is this normal?
I have the D-Link Dir-655. Is that "good enough" for wireless streaming of 1080p?
I've monitored the "bitrate" while streaming SD/Semi HD/HD (480p/720p/1080p).
I've noticed.. 1080p, when the colour/intensity of the scene is fast, etc... the bitrate races to 10-12mbps. It is stable/clear at that point, but when it hits 12.5+ to 30mbps randomly (not mb's a second, mbps).. It gets very choppy...
My i7 when it is "in this choppy moment" on my tv/ps3, the i7 on my pc is not even 30% in use, and both media server, java, etc are set to HIGH priority in task manager, 2 levels above normal. Currently Oc'd at 3.4ghz.
My hdd's are defragged clean, and it's not running off of a usb line. Sata III actually for the source file (separate Sata III then C: ).
Is there an exact format/media extension/perfect sweet spot bitrate... that I need to re render every 1080p film i own, to a specific one... so there needs to be 0% transcoding, pure streaming? Would that actually fix the random intermittent issues?
I've increased the default buffer from 400mb to 800mb. But considering 2-10gb... (have the space). Suggestions?
What else can I do to fix this, increase performance, etc.
Firewalls are off, automatic defrag is off. Do NOT have a page file, (12gb ram..). Can hook up a usb 3.0 32gb stick as "ready boost" if it could help.
I have no other programs running, no games, no video active components, at most maybe a browser window and skype (chat only).
Will be more then happy to test idea's.
