Personally I don't think i7's or hyperthreading are offering any value. I was shocked when I read Houdini 3 (top chess engine) programmer recommending turning hyperthreading off for better performance!? LOL

My vote goes to i5-2500K & i5 3570K.

For dirt cheap cpu's, I pick the pentium G860.

2500k if there was such option... But I'd vote for the 2600k (marketplace prices seem to be lower than 3770k's by around 30-40$). If you live near an MC store, then the obvious choice will be 3770k, of course, can't beat their prices.

i7 = value CPU?
And for AMD you don't have APUs as value but FX6/4xxx...plz...
post #98 of 138
Seriously obvious rig job (like most of the categories for this whole event). Two mid/high cost enthusiast chips and no actually value oriented chips. Why not put the 3960 in here? My vote would go to the 3570K if you had put it in. Its (and the 2500k's) absence makes me think (actually I know) this whole contest is set up.
