My friend has this card I like the heat sink.

See, I can't justify that. It's just way too much, and is completely useless while adding cost to the card. It's also got what's essentially a 3 slot cooler.
The 7970 Lightning on the other hand has a 2 slot cooler, which is pretty much a requirement for me. It's looks the best, in my opinion. MSI is still running their goofy "military class" marketing mumbo jumbo, but the component quality is good. The GPU reactor definitely sounds great, but I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes in reality. It's simply the best 2 slot card, so it wins in my book.
I've never been a fan of the ASUS DCIIs, but the Matrix should be the one listed here.
XFX doesn't even deserve to be here, IMO.

What card you would buy is TOTALLY irrelevant in a flagship product. A flagship is all about showing off--no matter the price, or the sacrifices that must be made to have it. If you buy a 100k BMW 7-series sedan, its not because you need the miles of legroom, it's because you're showing off that your daily driver is totally unnecessarily. I like the HIS card the most, but the Toxic is clearly the most flashy piece of hardware in that list.

I vote MSI because its the only card that i know of that has more than 2 DP ports. The sapphire Toxic should have had nothing but DP plugs, 6 of them for that amount of vram.

MSI for sure, HIS is a close second. MSI have great customer support and they have good quality components on their boards with rather good coolers. The only air coolers that are better are ASUS' and they're generally either really long or 3 slots as opposed to 2. I guess another thing is you know that an MSI card WILL work with Afterburner, if say you buy an ASUS you're not 100% guaranteed that it will (I prefer MSI AB to anything else)

That being said HIS have great customer support (in Australia at least) and the card I have has a pretty silent cooler and I'd assume the HIS X 7970's is similar in the noise department. I just prefer MSI and next time 'round if I don't go for nVidia (I want a change) I'll probably either go with MSI or ASUS - Bit sketchy on ASUS' cards to be honest.

Sapphire Toxic 7970 GHZ 6gb gets my vote. You can never have too much VRAM when triple screen gaming at 1400p/1600p
